Who is responsible
ZINSON is operated by David Bowles, sole trader, ABN 36 645 685 720. Privacy enquiries can be sent to support@zinson.com or made using the details on our Contact Us page.
We aim to handle personal information consistently with applicable Australian privacy requirements, including the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Name, email, phone number and account details.
- Billing and delivery address and delivery instructions.
- Orders, returns, enquiries, reviews and support correspondence.
- Marketing preferences and competition entries where offered.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, device, browser and approximate location information.
- Pages viewed, searches, clicks, referring pages and session activity.
- Cookies and similar identifiers used for essential operation, security, analytics and permitted marketing.
- Payment status and limited transaction identifiers from payment providers.
Payment providers process card and account details under their own terms. ZINSON does not need you to send full card numbers or security codes by email.
Why we use personal information
- To provide the website, process payment, accept orders and arrange delivery.
- To manage accounts, enquiries, returns, refunds, product safety notices and disputes.
- To verify transactions, prevent fraud, secure the website and enforce our terms.
- To maintain business, tax, accounting and legal records.
- To understand store performance and improve products, navigation and customer care.
- To send marketing where permitted and honour unsubscribe choices.
If required information is not provided, we may be unable to process an order, deliver a product or respond to a request.
Who we may share information with
We may disclose only the information reasonably needed to payment providers, banks, fraud-prevention services, carriers, warehouses, product suppliers, IT and hosting providers, analytics or communication providers, professional advisers, insurers, regulators and law-enforcement bodies where authorised or required.
Some providers may process or store information outside Australia. Their locations can change. Where Australian privacy requirements apply, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the service and information before an overseas disclosure.
We do not sell personal information as a standalone product.
Cookies, analytics and marketing
Essential cookies keep the cart, checkout, security and account features working. Analytics cookies help us understand website use. Advertising or personalisation cookies may be used only where enabled by the site and permitted by your browser or consent choices.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but parts of checkout or account functionality may stop working. Marketing emails include an unsubscribe option; service messages about an order may still be sent.
Security and retention
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we hold. No internet service is completely risk-free. If a data incident occurs, we will investigate and take steps required by applicable law.
Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for orders, support, fraud prevention, legal obligations and dispute handling, then deleted or de-identified where practical.
Access, correction and privacy complaints
- Contact usEmail support@zinson.com and describe the information or concern.
- Identity checkWe may ask for reasonable verification before disclosing or changing personal information.
- Our responseWe will assess the request and explain any lawful reason for refusing access or correction.
- EscalationIf a privacy complaint is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where it has jurisdiction.
Children and policy changes
The store is intended for customers able to enter a purchase contract. We do not knowingly seek personal information directly from children without an appropriate adult.
We may update this policy when services, providers or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
Scope and meaning of personal information
This policy applies to personal information handled through the ZINSON website, checkout, customer accounts, email, phone, contact forms, returns and related customer-care interactions. “Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.
It does not apply to information that has been irreversibly de-identified so that no individual is reasonably identifiable. It also does not replace a third party’s privacy policy where you use a payment provider, bank, carrier, social network or linked website directly.
You may browse general catalogue pages without creating an account, but ordering and some support services require identifying and contact information.
How information is collected
We collect information directly from you when you browse, create an account, place an order, subscribe, contact us, submit a review or request a return. We may also receive information from:
- a person placing or receiving an order on your behalf;
- payment providers and banks confirming transaction status;
- carriers, warehouses and suppliers providing fulfilment or delivery updates;
- fraud-prevention, identity and security providers;
- analytics, advertising and communication providers where configured and permitted;
- public records or lawful third-party sources where reasonably necessary.
If you provide another person’s details, such as a gift recipient or site contact, you must have a reasonable basis to do so and should make them aware that ZINSON will use the details to fulfil the order.
Sensitive and unsolicited information
ZINSON does not normally need sensitive information such as health, biometric, political, religious or criminal-record information. Do not include it in an order or enquiry unless it is genuinely necessary—for example, an accessibility requirement relevant to delivery—and you consent to its handling for that purpose.
If we receive personal information that we did not request, we will assess whether it could lawfully have been collected. Where it is not reasonably needed and retention is not required, we will delete or de-identify it where practical.
Never send identity documents, complete payment credentials or medical information through the general contact form unless customer care has confirmed a secure and necessary process.
Anonymity, pseudonyms and required information
You can browse without identifying yourself and may make general enquiries using limited details where practical. We cannot process payment, deliver physical goods, investigate an account or issue most refunds anonymously.
Required checkout fields are used to fulfil the order, meet legal obligations, prevent fraud and contact you about the transaction. Optional information is marked or can be omitted where the service permits.
Direct marketing and communication choices
We may send service communications needed for an order, delivery, safety notice, account or support request. These are not marketing and may continue while the transaction or legal obligation remains active.
Marketing email or SMS is sent only where we have consent or another lawful basis. You can unsubscribe through the message link or contact support@zinson.com. An unsubscribe may take a short time to process, and we may retain a suppression record so the preference is respected.
Withdrawing from marketing does not delete order records or stop essential service messages. Advertising choices in a browser or third-party platform must also be managed through that provider.
Analytics, de-identified data and automated checks
We may combine usage and transaction information to produce statistics about catalogue demand, delivery areas, device performance, fraud patterns and customer-care quality. Aggregated or de-identified information may be used for business planning where individuals are not reasonably identifiable.
Payment and fraud providers may use automated signals to approve, decline or flag a transaction. ZINSON may review a flagged order and request reasonable verification. Contact us if you believe an automated or incorrect signal affected a legitimate order.
Overseas processing and cloud providers
Website hosting, email, analytics, security, support and payment services can use infrastructure outside Australia. Provider locations and subcontractors can change, so it may not be practical to list every country in advance.
Before disclosing personal information overseas where the Australian Privacy Principles apply, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the information and service. This can include reviewing provider security, privacy terms, data-processing commitments and access controls.
Some transfers occur because you directly choose an international provider or because an exception under applicable law applies. Contact us if you need more information about a particular service connected with your order.
Third-party websites, social platforms and payments
The website may link to manufacturer information, carriers, payment pages or social platforms. Once you leave the ZINSON website or interact directly with a third party, that provider controls its own collection and should provide its own privacy information.
Embedded content, maps, videos, chat tools or social features can allow the provider to receive device and interaction data. We aim to use only tools reasonably connected with store operation and marketing, but we do not control a third party’s independent practices.
Data incidents and account security
If we become aware of suspected unauthorised access, loss or disclosure, we will investigate, contain the issue where possible, assess likely harm and take steps required by applicable data-breach law. Notification may be made to affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where legally required.
You can reduce risk by using a unique password, signing out on shared devices, checking emails for unusual changes and contacting us promptly if an account or order appears unauthorised. We may temporarily restrict access while a security concern is investigated.
Access and correction in more detail
You can request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading information. Describe the relevant account, order or communication so we can locate it.
We may refuse or limit access where authorised by law, including where disclosure would unreasonably affect another person, reveal protected material or create a serious threat. If we refuse, we will generally explain the reason and available complaint process unless the law prevents that explanation.
Access is usually provided without charge, but a reasonable cost may apply for unusually complex retrieval or reproduction where lawful and disclosed in advance.
